Position Summary :

ETS’s Product Innovation and Development division is seeking an innovative and strategic visionary to serve as a Product Owner. The Product Owner owns the backlog of a new product or product expansion and galvanizes a cross-functional scrum team to execute a robust backlog. The Product Owner receives business requirements from a Product Manager in the Global Language Learning and Higher Education business units and translates those business requirements to product requirements and a product development backlog. The Product Owner is responsible for the complete product design, user interactions, content architecture and insights, capability integrations, and a world class end-to-end user experience. The Product Owner is also responsible for maintaining a robust product feature backlog that is aligned to the business requirements and needs of the market.

The Product Owner reports either to a Director, Product Owner, or to an Executive Director, Product Owner, and collaborates closely with Product Managers and business unit leads.

Responsibilities

Own and maintain the product backlog for a new product or product expansion.

Collaborate with the Product Manager to understand market segments, competitive analyses, strategic vision, and to translate business requirements into clear and actionable product requirements.

Bring resources to the cross-functional scrum team at the appropriate time to execute the product development backlog effectively and efficiently.

Lead the product design process of learning and assessment products that are built on learning science principles and that have evidence of efficacy.

Ensure a world-class end-to-end user experience, including intuitive user interactions and engaging feature and content architecture.

Manage capability integrations by partnering with Technical Product Managers and ensure seamless functionality across different aspects of the product.

Gather insights from users and stakeholders to inform product decisions and improvements.

Maintain a robust product feature backlog that aligns with business requirements and market needs.

Collaborate with Product Managers and business unit leads to ensure alignment and prioritization of product features and roadmaps.

Regularly communicate with stakeholders to provide updates on product development progress and gather feedback.

Act as the primary point of contact for any product-related questions or concerns from the scrum team and/or stakeholders.

Continuously groom and refine the backlog.

Ensure that the product meets quality standards and is delivered on time and within budget.

Support a strong go-to market by delivering Product Managers and cross-functional teams including Marketing and Sales with insights about product-market fit and claims about product efficacy.

Keep up to date with market trends and competitor products to inform the product strategy.

Lead sprint planning, sprint reviews, and other Agile ceremonies to guide the development process effectively.

Foster a collaborative and innovative environment within the cross-functional team to encourage creativity and problem-solving.

Monitor and measure key product metrics to evaluate product performance and identify areas for improvement.

Education, Certifications, or Special Licenses:

Bachelor’s degree required.

MBA or master’s degree in business administration, product management, organizational psychology, information technology, marketing, or a related field preferred

Relevant Years of Experience Required:

3+ years in successful product management

Experience in the educational technology industry is a plus.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Agile Methodologies: Strong understanding and experience in working with Agile frameworks, particularly Scrum, and a proven ability to effectively manage and prioritize product backlogs.

Business Acumen: Sound business judgment and the ability to align product decisions with strategic objectives and market demands.

User-Centric Mindset: A deep understanding of user needs and behaviors, with the ability to create intuitive and user-friendly product designs and experiences.

Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and executives.

Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with technology and software development processes, enabling effective communication with development teams and a clear understanding of technical constraints and possibilities.
